    A Day in the Life as a Consumer Lending Sales Assistant Manager

     

    As the Consumer Lending Sales Assistant Manager, you'll be the go-to leader for driving loan growth, coaching employees, and ensuring exceptional member service. Here's what a typical day might look like:

     

    + Meet with your team to review loan production, sales goals, and coaching opportunities.

    + Partner with the Consumer Lending Manager to review lending trends, identify opportunities, and recommend new products or enhancements.

    + Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions, provide feedback, and ensure team members are supported and well-trained.

    + Monitor workflows, evaluate loan quality, and step in to resolve member concerns quickly and professionally.

    + Lead by example-promote credit union goals, maintain compliance, and foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and excellence.

     

    In short, your role blends strategic leadership, team development, and hands-on involvement in making sure our lending department not only meets but exceeds expectations.

    What You'll Do

    + Oversee and drive the consumer lending sales function of the credit union

    + Train, coach, and support staff to achieve sales and service excellence

    + Recommend rate changes, new products, and enhancements

    + Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations

    + Monitor workflows, track goals, and maintain efficiency

    + Supervise and develop department personnel through coaching, training, and performance reviews

    + Assist with hiring, onboarding, and professional development of staff

    + Promote cross-selling and lending growth opportunities

    + Collaborate with management to set and achieve departmental goals

    Qualifications

    + Education: High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)

    + Experience: 3–5 years of progressive consumer lending sales experience, including supervisory responsibilities

    + Knowledge: Credit Union loan products, regulations, underwriting, loan promotions, and marketing practices

    + Skills:

    + Strong leadership and coaching ability

    + Excellent project management and organizational skills

    + Ability to analyze Federal Tax Returns to determine income

    + Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    + Proficiency with computer applications and business equipment

    + Inside sales
