RDTS is seeking an Application Development Expert, specifically, aJava Full Stack Developercontractor to support a program with theState of Maryland in Linthicum, MD. The position is fully onsite and full-time, Monday-Friday with standard office hours (i.e. 8:00am-5:00pm).

The Applications Development Expert provides design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy. The role shall use a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications to customers. This individual will be viewed both internally and externally as a technical expert and critical technical resource across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities include performing the following tasks:

+ Developing enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features

+ Providing expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business

+ Determining specifications, then plans, designs, and developing the most complex and business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes (either individually or in concert with a project team)

+ Assisting in the most difficult support problems

+ Developing programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuse

+ Understanding and consistently applying the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies

+ Researching and maintaining knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business

+ Acting as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent

+ Highly skilled and experienced Full stack technical lead with strong expertise in Angular andNode.jsto lead the design, development and delivery of the web application

+ This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring team members, and guiding architecture and design decisions

+ Lead a team of full-stack developers to deliver scalable and high-quality web applications

+ Architect and develop modern, responsive front-end interfaces using Angular (v111+)

+ Design and implement robust backend services and APIs usingNode.js, Express and related technologies

+ Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features

+ Ensure code quality through code reviews, test automation and best practices

+ Take ownership of system architecture, performance optimization, and scalability

+ Guide the team on clean code principles, design patterns, and modular architecture

+ Identify and mitigate technical risks and resolve production issues quickly

+ Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend tools to improve development efficiency

Requirements

+ This position requires a minimum Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred.

+ Candidate must have at least seven (7) years of IT and business/industry work experience.

+ Strong communication and leadership skills

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

+ Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

+ Passion for clean, maintainable, and well documented code

+ Experience with NoSQL/SQL databases (eg., MongoDB, PostgreSQL)

+ Experience with cloud platforms like AWS

+ Knowledge of websockets or microservices architecture

+ Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes

Specialized Experience:Candidate must have at least three (3) years as a technical expert in an IT organization. This individual shall perform as a Tech Lead in which they coach and mentor the junior technical staff. The position will also provide technical input into the most complex and high impact IT decisions. This individual will be accountable for the most complex enterprise-wide applications and issues, translating highly complex concepts for peers and customers. The position must have in-depth knowledge of state-of-the art programming languages and object-oriented approach in designing, coding, testing and debugging programs.
