    Job Description

    **UW Medicine Insurance Eligibility and Financial Counseling Services Team (IECS)** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Financial Counselor Manager** .

    WORK SCHEDULE

    + 100% FTE (40 hours per week)

    + Mondays - Fridays; 8:00am-4:30pm

    + Day Shift

    + Hybrid after a 6-month probation period

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

    + Oversee daily operations and strategic planning for UW Medicine’s Financial Counseling services across multiple sites. Responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing staff, while fostering a strong culture of customer service. Represent Financial Counseling in internal and external meetings and collaborate with public health agencies and stakeholders to support UW Medicine’s mission.

    + This is an onsite position for 4 days a week the first 6 months, with potential for transitioning to hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite) upon successful completion of the probationary period.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Manage and support Financial Counseling Supervisors to ensure accurate registration and timely service delivery.

    + Oversee daily workflows including Epic work queues, phone systems, and scheduled appointments; track performance using dashboards and metrics.

    + Monitor staff performance, complete evaluations, and lead ongoing training and development initiatives.

    + Enforce productivity, quality, and compliance standards; develop and implement departmental procedures and improvements.

    + Review and approve personnel decisions; manage payroll processes and ensure timekeeping accuracy.

    + Represent Patient Access Services in communications with patients, payers, internal departments, and external agencies.

    + Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, expenditure approvals, and operational performance tracking.

    + Ensure compliance with Washington Health Benefit Exchange and UW Medicine’s Financial Assistance (Charity) and Medicaid application policies.

    + Prepare and present reports and documentation using Microsoft Office tools.

    + Keep the Director informed of key issues, risks, and customer feedback; participate in committees as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or other field and/or Master’s degree in Health Care or Business Administration or other related field of study.

    + 4-5 years’ experience in healthcare patient access, registration, financial counseling or other related healthcare experience.

    + Management, leadership, supervisory and program management skills demonstrated by continuing professional growth. UW Supervisory Skills Certificate, CHAM, or applicable professional certification is preferred.

    + An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.

    $90,576.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $135,864.00 annual
