Responsibilities
+ Perform waived laboratory tests, schedule appointments, and document according to established guidelines provided in the Coumadin (Warfarin) therapy guidelines.
+ Adjust medication dosage based on INR lab results
+ Assist anti-coagulated patients both in office and via telephone management to assist maintaining a safe and therapeutic dosing regimen of Warfarin.
+ Work with multi-disciplinaries including Home Health, Long-Term Care, and Skilled Care facilities.
+ Manage office responsibilities which include documentation, records, and patient outreach.
+ Accurately administer medications orally, IM, sub-q and IV.
+ Coordinate the transfer of patients to hospitals.
Qualifications
Education
• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses.
• High school diploma required if work is performed in a complex CLIA lab.
Experience
• No previous clinical experience required beyond education requirements
License(s)/Certification(s)
• BLS
• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa/Wisconsin for Registered Nurse.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
