Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
MSNBC is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Field Producer to support the production of compelling and visually engaging news content across broadcast and digital platforms. This role is ideal for a developing journalist with a passion for storytelling, strong editorial instincts, and a desire to grow in the fast-paced world of field production. As an Associate Field Producer, you'll work closely with reporters, producers, and production crews to assist in all aspects of news coverage—from breaking news to long-form enterprise stories. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, initiative, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments. Travel and varied working hours are required.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Support the development and execution of daily and enterprise news content for television and digital platforms
+ Assist in producing live and taped segments in the field, studio, or remote locations
+ Research story elements, background information, and potential guests or locations
+ Coordinate and support on-site logistics including crew movements, gear, credentials, and permissions
+ Assist with writing scripts and compiling production notes
+ Conduct and log pre-interviews, and help schedule in-person or remote interviews
+ Collaborate with field teams to review and organize field footage for packages and digital use
+ Support the creation of graphics, lower-thirds, and other visual elements
+ Maintain communication with newsroom teams to provide timely updates from the field
+ Work with technical teams to troubleshoot issues with live shots or video feeds as needed
+ Ensure all content aligns with MSNBC’s editorial standards and ethical guidelines
+ At least 1–3 years of experience in a television newsroom, preferably in a production or editorial support role
+ Strong interest in field production, storytelling, and breaking news coverage
+ Excellent research and organizational skills with attention to detail
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Familiarity with field production tools and workflows is a plus (e.g., LiveU, Dejero, DSLR cameras)
+ Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
+ Basic video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Avid) a plus
+ Willingness to travel on short notice and work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays
+ Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field - or equivalent experience
+ Driver license required

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
