The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. The Prospect Research team supports all Advancement and Alumni Engagement departments by identifying major funders for university initiatives, providing research and preparing leadership briefings. This position will report to the Senior Director of Prospect Research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Responsible for the design, use, and implementation of strategic prospect research initiatives in support of Emory University.
+ Regularly utilizes well-defined measurements of research team output and value add and adjusts resources and priorities as necessary.
+ Develops and implements research policies, procedures, and best practices.
+ Regularly seeks to identify and implement process improvements.
+ Ensures that standards of confidentiality are developed and implemented in dealing with prospect information.
+ Trains staff in the use of research tools and provides opportunities for professional development.
+ Allocates and monitors research assignments among research staff, ensuring that timely and complete information is provided to development officers.
+ Gathers, evaluates, organizes, and disseminates information to development officers.
+ Collaborates with development officers and unit leadership on prospect/leadership identification and cultivation.
+ Evaluates prospect identification tools, and contracts with vendors for services and makes recommendations to leadership as necessary.
+ Prepares reports for use by division Leadership, development officers, and senior staff.
+ Recommends cultivation activities and solicitation timing for key prospects, and timely follow-through.
+ Participates in prospect management meetings, and tracks status of activities.
+ Analyzes databases and identifies new prospects; evaluates and provides capacity analysis using online databases and industry best practices.
+ Increases number of new prospects for giving and leadership through list segmentation and screening methods.
+ Keeps abreast of appropriate fundraising strategies and various options for planned giving such as trusts, bequests, and pooled income funds.
+ Identifies potential donors and leaders.
+ Develops and analyzes prospect tracking reports.
+ Manages a team of professional staff.
+ Manages a department budget and resources.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
+ This position requires coming in person two days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in prospect research, advancement services, or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Successful candidates will possess extensive experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with mass email applications, project management software, and CRM systems.
+ Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
+ Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
+ Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the ability to work collaboratively.
+ Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
+ Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
+ Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
