    Position Purpose:

    Core-Mark is one of the largest and most valued marketers of fresh food and broad-line supply solutions to the convenience retail industry. Our primary responsibility as the Core Solutions Group is to support Core-Mark’s mission by providing accurate, timely, and efficient tools and data to our internal and external customers. We are a well established Business Intelligence team that is taking its first steps into the AI and advanced analytics space and need a talented data scientist that can grow with our company and help test and establish processes for evaluating, testing and implementing these types of analytical models that provide actionable data to all levels of the organization.

     

    This role requires in-office work Monday – Thursday with the option to work remotely or in-office on Friday.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Work with internal/external stakeholders, including executive leadership, to determine value-add use cases and new process improvement opportunities

    • Develop custom tools and processes to optimize data cleaning, normalization, validation and analysis tasks

    • Identify and mine reliable internal and external data sources into SQL server and cloud applications for use in analytical models and reporting

    • Develop custom predictive, prescriptive and forecasting data models using AI/Machine Learning model philosophy

    • Ability to write high-level python code

    • Maintain and improve existing BI applications, and create new PowerBI reports and Paginated Reports to display data insights from analytical models

    • Create and present ROI plans for new AI/ML models to be approved by senior leadership, and track post-implementation results to confirm ROI capture

    • Create documentation and training customized for different levels of users on proper use and data insights from analytical models

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related fields

    • Coding Experience with Python, R, C, C++, SQL

    • Analytical reporting experience with PowerBI, Paginated Reporting, or similar platform

    • Experience with Microsoft Azure AI or similar AI development platforms

    • 2 - 4 Years of experience in data science, business intelligence, and reporting within a retail, wholesale, or distribution environment.
