Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.The New York State Police Dedicated ITS Support team is responsible for supporting homegrown and commercial business applications for the New York State Police. The team is responsible for managing many critical applications 24 x 7. This Lab Systems Technical Lead position will be responsible for the overall support and maintenance of the NYSP Laboratory Management Systems utilized by the Forensic Investigations Center.- Participate as a technical team lead within the Dedicated NYSP team for the Laboratory Systems Team.- Coordinate and participate in system installations, patching and upgrades. - Work closely with Data Center Hosting, Database Administration, Network and the Chief Technology Office staff to support the installation of new systems and maintenance of existing systems.- Provide business hour and off hour technical support and maintenance for critical NYSP systems.- Monitor system performance of NYSP commercial applications.- Participate in security vulnerability scanning and remediation.- Perform supervision duties for Information Technology Specialist 2 staff as well as contract staff.- Troubleshoot application network and performance issues.- Assist with Microsoft Server operating system application configuration and tuning.- Interface with Active Directory with new applications, requesting new accounts and aid with group membership / security.- Configure and support web / application servers which include the support of Internet Information Services(IIS), Oracle, Crystal Reports and related technologies.- Act as a technical lead supporting system migration and testing for data center consolidation projects.

Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.
