**Pay Range:** $45.59 - $74.19 per hour

Summary:
Job **Summary:**
The Research Administrator is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Grants Administration Team. The Research Administrator provides oversight of the entire departmental research portfolio (i.e., studies, projects, programs), including but not limited to pre- and post-award, research finances, and research and corporate compliance. The Research Administrator provides Senior Director RADC Operations, chairperson, and area leaders with up-to-date budgeting and management information. This position functions as a liaison for both internal departments and external organizations. Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least seven years of experience in research administration operation required.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Ability to lead a team and manage stressful situations.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport, navigate sensitive topics, and maintain confidentiality.

• Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Science or a related field preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Prior research administration experience in an academic environment.
• Relevant certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Clinical Research Professionals (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), or Certified IRB Professional (CIP) preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to Human Subject Protections, including 45CFR46, 21CFR50 and 56, Good Clinical Practice, the Declaration of Helsinki, the Belmont Report and HIPAA, and RUMC policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintains up-to-date insight and knowledge of the entire research portfolio.
2. Oversees the department's grant proposal system and participates in the selection and approval of new proposals.
3. Oversees the assignment of studies to grants staff and reviews workspaces and applications before submissions to the IRB and the Sponsored Projects Administration Office.
4. Troubleshoots and guides staff.
5. Responsible for research finances, including preparing reports, monitoring, and overseeing all of the research activities (funds), accounts, and accounting units for the department.
6. Monitors all research expenditures. Collaborates with fund accounting to ensure research billings and payments are made and received. Assists with troubleshooting, issues resolution and activity reconciliations. Maintains a computerized accrued accounting system of research funds. Handles federal, industry, and foundation agreements and applications.
7. Educates investigators in Medical Center budgeting system and grant management.
8. Monitors costs of services performed by other departments, outside laboratories, and consultants. Completes billing for research performed in the department laboratories.
9. Monitors periodic fund reports for all research activities (fund), accounts, and accounting units. Reconciles fund reports with department database.
10. Maintains up to date data on expenditures and obligations. Verifies project expenditures and prepares final accounts.
11. Partners with contract office, IRB, fund accounting, coverage analysis, and sync teams to ensure timely study activations, adherence to policies, efficient billings, and timely reconciliations.
12. Partners with Rush Purchasing and Procurement to answer questions and ensure agreements are fully executed in a timely fashion.
13. Manages team and provides daily oversight for direct reports. Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, staff development, and continued education within the Grants Administrative Team.
14. Identifies, trains, and supervises research training for research personnel and ensures adherence and compliance with internal RUMC policies and research guidance.
15. Partners with Research and Corporate Compliance to ensure all researchers in the department adhere to policies and procedures, good clinical practices, etc.
16. Partners with PI and study team to draft standard operating procedures and corrective action plans, as applicable.
17. Part of ADRC executive committee as co-Administrator of the Rush ADRC.
