    The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Director of Pharmacy at our LENNAR location. The Director of Pharmacy Services is responsible for leading, developing and coordinating the operation of Pharmacy Services on a daily basis and on a global basis as it relates to systems analysis and integration. This position shall develop services that provide and enhance quality patient care while promoting fiscal responsibility in the utilization of resources. Within the scope of budget responsibilities, the Director of Pharmacy Services shall direct the activities that provide for the purchasing, receiving, storage, delivery and distribution of medications from the pharmacy. The Director of Pharmacy Services is also responsible fore the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical services and medication safety initiatives to ensure the provision of high quality pharmaceutical care. The Director of Pharmacy Services shall utilize effective interpersonal and communication skills in the performance of this job.

    CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Works with physicians and pharmacy staff to administer cost effective pharmacology therapy with a timely protocol.

    2. Reviews, monitors, and recommends changes to prescription programs and formulary, including limitations, pre-authorizations, exceptions, and non-covered items.

    3. Directs and coordinates functions of the Pharmacy Department in accordance with government rules and regulations.

    4. Directs performance improvement activities for the department and reviews opportunities for cost reductions through formulary control.

    5. Ensures the quality and cost effectiveness of departmental operations and patient care services throughout the assigned service areas or patient care locations.

    6. Implements procedures according to hospital policies and legal requirements.

    7. Analyzes records for prescribing trends and inappropriate usage.

    8. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

    CORE QUALIFICATIONS

    + Pharm.D. degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.

    + Requires current licensure in good standing in the State of Florida

    + Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
