Team Lead
San Diego Youth Services seeks a Team Lead in the TAY Works! program to be based in Spring Valley. This is a full-time & non-exempt position reporting to the TAY Works! Program Manager and Director.

San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 780,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless.

+ Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing.
+ Create positive connection. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system.
+ Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets.
+ Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION OR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION HIRING FOR
TAY Works! offers several pathways to youth throughout San Diego County that focuses on Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship. The program gives youth the opportunity to develop job skills, establish connections, and practice professionally through workshops and work-based learning. To be eligible for TAY Works! programing, youth must be ages 16 – 24.
CONTEXT OF THE POSITION
Accountable to Director of Services and TAY WORKS! Program Manager to provide comprehensive trauma-informed support services. Responsible for implementation, and oversight of a strengths-based approach which identifies and develops individual youth’s assets while simultaneously building protective factors and resiliency. Supporting with maintaining organization and data collection and program budgeting.
Essential functions include:
+ Develop, implement, and evaluate an integrated approach for youth that focuses on the 3 E’s- Employment, Education, and Entrepreneurship
+ Oversite of referral eligibility
+ Assist in development and implementation of program orientation for new staff
+ Oversite of Career Navigators to ensure program compliance and completion of contract outcomes
+ Oversite of ongoing contact between participants and staff.
+ Monitoring of all program budgets and career navigator spending
+ Tracking all spending for overall TAY Works! programing through spreadsheets, GLS, logs and other tracking dashboards and documents
+ Collaborating with career navigators to create individualized spending plans for caseload.
+ Ensure contract compliance by conducting internal audits and file reviews on a weekly bases.
+ Complete SDSY TAY Works! quarterly progress reports.
+ Support with completing of contract quarterly progress reports
+ Provide necessary timely reports and statistics/information to funding sources as required.
+ Monitor program progress achieving Statement of Work goals.
+ Communicate with staff when information is missing from required tracking documents to be completed in a timely manner.
+ Support Program Manager with staff check ins and case consultations.
+ Participating in contract meetings and SDYS required meetings
+ Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementation of workshops on job readiness, social emotional skills.
+ In conjunction with Program Manager, update and maintain policies and procedures manual.
+ Establish and maintain linkage relationships with agencies, organizations, and civic and community groups by participating in community collaboratives, taskforce, advisory or other meetings.
+ Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and maintenance of case files in accordance with contract compliance of records as required.
+ Identify and/or develop community-based resources to provide services to enhance program services, and to support healthy positive youth development activities necessary for the well-being of service-partner(s).
+ Ensure provision of screening for service partner(s) to determine eligibility and appropriateness for program services, referrals for wrap-around and other services
+ Ensure contract compliance by conducting internal audits and file reviews.
+ Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners’ protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance to agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.
+ Maintain program’s space and vehicle cleanliness and safety. Report and coordinate any necessary facility or equipment repairs as needed.
+ Welcome and support volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable.
+ Maintain warm and welcoming environment.
+ Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and competing deadlines.
+ Cooperate and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors and positively contribute to the culture of the program and agency.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
+ Must have experience in job development.
+ Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
+ Two years’ experience working with at-risk youth, experience with youth experiencing homelessness preferred. Leadership experience preferred.
+ Understanding of Motivational Interviewing preferred.
+ Must be willing to work at night and weekends.
+ Must be comfortable being on call.
+ Must be willing to develop a working knowledge of trauma informed.
+ Record keeping, data collection and contract compliance abilities.
+ Knowledge of resources in San Diego.
+ Must be able to work and represent a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
+ Must possess excellent oral and written skills and be able to work well autonomously and with a multi-disciplinary team.
+ Must be computer literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
+ Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and competing deadlines.
+ Cooperate and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors and positively contribute to the culture of the program and agency.
+ Maintain certification in CPR & First Aid.
+ Willing to complete clearance procedures, including testing for illegal drug use; final offer of hire pending on results of clearances.
+ Willingness to use vehicle to drive throughout San Diego County as position is community based. (Mileage reimbursement provided).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
+ Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students.
+ Must have the ability to hear and speak to exchange information and make presentations.
+ Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds-lifting books, materials and equipment to execute lessons and presentations.
+ Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
+ Walking extended lengths to move around campuses.
+ Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior.

Salary Range : $28.00 – 30.00/hour
