    Job Description:

    ITW Food Machines is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer. This position responds to the needs of the organization by applying Quality Standards & Methodologies to the current and future supply base. Improving Supplier Quality programs, systems, procedures. Will establish and assure maintenance of quality programs and standards for all suppliers. Responsibilities in recommending improvements, corrective actions to ensure high level performance and on-going cost reduction. Manage current supply base to ensure the Quality standards of Assembly plant are met and maintained.

     

    Works onsite in our Hillsboro, Ohio facility. Reports directly to the ITW Food Machine Division Quality Manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Quality or Related Field

    Experience

    5+ Years

    + Quality Engineering-APQP-PPAP-FMEA’s-MSA-CORE TOOLS-GD&T-FAI’s

    + Background in problem solving, auditing, and improving in a manufacturing environment. Experience within Supplier Quality-Auditing-Problem Solving

    Skills / Abilities

    + Hands-On Expertise in Part Inspection and Qualification. (PPAP, APQP, CTQ, AQL)

    + Experienced project management-detail oriented.

    + Strong math & GD&T skills.

    + Organizational skills-6S-KANBAN-JIT.

    + Communication - verbal and written - must be able to deliver presentations.

    + Interpersonal skills

    + Must be able to resolve conflicts

    + Good listening-problem solving skills

    + Systematically gather information, sorts through complex issues, and make timely decisions.

    + Strong SPC Knowledge

    Preferred Qualifications

    + CQA, CQE, Certified Lead Auditor, 6 SIGMA Green-Black Belt

     

    Scope

     

    Hands-on role that regularly plans, implements, maintains, acts, and improves the Supplier Quality system provides quality engineering support to improve purchased part quality. This position will specifically manage supplier quality assurance and supplier development activities identified by the Supplier Certification and Quality Assessment program to ensure that the incoming material (and services) supplied are of the highest levels of quality and consistently improving.

    Responsibilities (80% Core Essential Functions)

    + Establish relationships with key personnel within ITW FEG businesses for the express purpose of gathering parts information relating to new product releases or product changes

    + Design and review manufacturing sampling inspection plans and testing of received material to determine conformance to specifications

    + Determine plans to analyze defective material and source of defects

    + Conduct periodic surveys and assessments of supplier performance, manufacturing processes and facilities to determine adequacy and capability of their systems and processes

    + Review quality problems with engineering/manufacturing/purchasing functions and coordinate actions required with suppliers to correct defects or prevent incidences

    + Prepare periodic performance reports concerning departmental activities, problems, supplier quality system ratings, schedules and 8-Ds reports tracking

    + Coordinate the quality approval process for new suppliers and new product introduction

    + Provide and coordinate technical support to suppliers to solve problems related to parts design and quality

    + Ensure adequate supplier planning through periodic reviews of PFMEA’s, gage R&Rs, control plans and outgoing inspection plans

    + Ensure supplier understanding of ECN/EPIC changes and specifications

    + Establish and perform periodic reviews to correlate the supplier’s measurement methods with those of receiving inspection

    + Enforce SQA manual for system compliance in coordination with Quality Management System and continuous improvement/ 80/20 toolbox

    + Apply methodology and statistical method analysis of key characteristics for both control and improvement of supplier’s processes

    + Support the Division’s efforts to establish, implement and maintain a system for supplier certification and performance measurement

    + Coordinate first article inspection and testing for initial production approval, PPAP requirements, and product qualification

    + Participate in the development of ISO standard and quality system audits

    + Assist in the research, evaluation and development of alternate and consolidated sources of material

    + Assist in the investigation of new designs and materials to improve manufacturability, service, quality and efficiency

    Responsibilities (20% Department-specific Core Essential Functions)

    + Partner cross-functionally to provide customer-backed quality solutions, including proactive analysis in understanding customer pain points and driving value-added solutions from a quality perspective.

    + Support the division’s efforts to establish, implement and maintain a system for supplier certification and performance measurement; coordinate and perform analysis and assessment of supplier performance, manufacturing processes and facilities to determine adequacy and capability of their systems and processes.

    + Provide follow-up and oversight to vendor-related corrective actions, review solutions and provide final approval of proposed resolution.

    Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

    + Office, Lab, and Manufacturing environments.

    + PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection in manufacturing setting.

    + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
