    Description

    As a Family Support Worker, you will provide parenting education and support to families. Healthy Families is a home visiting program designed to assist parents in either enhancing or learning the skills that enable them to provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for their children. You will report to the Healthy Families Supervisor and you will work onsite with community-based travel required.

    Responsibilities:

    + Establish positive and professional relationships with families and provide services in their home.

    + Utilize appropriate curricula and support materials to educate families on positive parent-child interaction and child development.

    + Model and demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills.

    + Assist families in becoming more discerning consumers of community services and make referrals as need arise.

    + Participate in the development of a service plan for each family.

    + Ensure that families have identified a primary healthcare provider and are receiving essential medical services.

    + Responsibly perform duties associated with special program services i.e. FRC, special events, etc.

    + Complete assigned paperwork as required.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Requirements and Education:

    + High School Diploma

    + Two years of work experience in human services.

    + Experience with parenting education and/or early childhood development, preferred.

    + Must have a valid NYS driver’s license, safe driving record, and have access to a vehicle for full-time business use.
