We are currently looking for aLRT - Operations Technical Training Specialist - River Lineto join our team!
Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Manager River LINE LRT Ops & Training, the LRT Operations Technical Training Specialist is responsible for training groups and individuals in the standard practices, procedures, safety and rules of NJ Transit and River LINE.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The specifications outlined are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in this position. The specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
+ Presents operational training programs and plans to new/current River LINE operation and maintenance of revenue equipment. Qualifies, certifies, instructs and re-instructs personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of revenue equipment as required.
+ Identifies, analyzes and provides feedback as to specific training needs for Operating and Maintenance personnel.
+ Supervise operations on an as-needed basis to ensure compliance with Rules, Instructions, Bulletins, General Orders, Procedures, etc. Prepares/submits reports to respective Unit Heads that documents issue’s relative to performance.
+ Researches problems and aids management in solving unique and/or recurring operating problems/issues. Provides recommendations for changes/enhancements to operating rules/procedures.
+ Assists MOE and MOW staff with developing or improving procedures pertaining to basic Light Rail vehicle and infrastructure maintenance troubleshooting techniques in an effort to assist assigned personnel with routine inspection/maintenance and the mitigation of systems related service disruptions.
+ Assists all units on an as-needed basis with investigating performance related complaints to determine cause and provides recommendations towards possible solutions. Monitors the implementation of accepted solutions.
+ Participates in Tiger Team incident/accident investigations on an as-needed basis.
+ Qualifies new and current LRT Operators, MOE and MOW personnel on system physical characteristics, mainline, Trenton Layover Facility (TLF), Burlington Mid-line yards.
+ Trains personnel on powered industrial equipment and other commercial equipment/vehicles as needed.
+ Re-qualifies Operators on Bus Operation and Farebox in association with preparation for programmed outages.
+ Performs observational safety efficiency checks on all personnel engaged in the performance of safety sensitive tasks as required; provides observational feedback to the affected personnel as needed.
+ Designs, develops and presents technical training programs for River LINE employees.
+ Trains/qualifies non-River LINE personnel on River LINE on-track safety rules in conjunction with the performance of work or River LINE right-of-way in concert with River LINE rules/procedures and personnel.
Education, Experience and Qualifications;
+ High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in design, development and presentation of Operations training programs (preferably Light Rail/Rail Operations training programs), or eight (8) years of experience in Light Rail or Rail operations. Teaching experience must be in a formal structured curriculum environment, and include experience using computer-based operational training systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with basic electronics/electrical principles, HVAC, track configurations, and the principals of electric trains and busses is desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
+ Must possess a Commercial Drivers’ License with P&A endorsements or be able to obtain a CDL License with P&A endorsements within 90 days of hiring start date.
Working Environment:
+ Classroom environment with outside activity including LRT Operation training in the Train Storage Yard and on the ROW; Bus Re-certification on City Streets.
Physical Demands:
+ While primarily operating in a classroom environment, this position involves standing, walking, climbing stairs, and, in part, working outdoors in all seasons. The position may involve bending over, or squatting; reaching overhead, walking on uneven surfaces and stepping over rail or obstructions in the Yard or ROW.
Other Conditions:
+ Per the needs of the River LINE and at the direction of the Manager of Training, this position may involve working off tours with variable RDO’.
