    Summary Part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Serves as the Senior Strategic Analyst in the Force Protection Division (FPO) for the Staff., Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment Directorate (J-8) overseeing one of six Joint FCBs by preparing, organizing and synchronizing the execution of bi-weekly Protection FCB meeting to review requirement documents and provide recommendations to the Joint Capability Board (JCB and the Joint Requirement Oversight Council (JROC). Responsibilities As a SENIOR STRATEGIC ANALYST at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Leads Chairman's top priority protection requirement validation efforts for the 18 Deputy Director of Requirements for Combatant Commander (CCMD) initiated Joint Urgent Operational Needs (JUON) and Joint Emergent Operational Needs (JEON) to mitigate warfighter critical mission failure or loss of life. Executes JROC directed post validation guidance to include program transition to the deliberate JCIDS process Leads the analysis and JCIDS endorsement process for the Force Protection and System Survivability Key Performance Parameters (KPP), 2 of the 6 mandatory KPPs in the JCIDS manual, and coordinate the Weapon Safety certification process. Serves as senior analyst for Homeland Defense and Security Clearance and Missile Defense Staff Issue Teams to develop JS positions and budget recommendations Responsible for developing, assigning, coordinating, organizing, managing, studies of the Joint Staff; as well as developing junior strategists, leaders, and analysts contractual resources needed to carry out these efforts. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Applying the principles, theories, and methodologies of advanced operations research methods, operational War planning and joint warfighting to provide analysis, plan strategies, and recommendations in joint missions; Applying ability, knowledge, and skills sufficient to operate as recognized authority in strategy and J8 technical director and requirements manager for all efforts related to the broad and complex Protection portfolio; Applying asset and personnel protection to current and emerging strategy, concepts, doctrine, force structures, and capabilities within the constraints of force employment and force development guidance, current operational practice, and service lessons-learned; Planning, conducting, coordinating, evaluating, and refining complex planning products (Concept of Operations, Capability/ Documents, Analysis of Alternatives Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
