• Model Based Systems Engineer

    Job Description

    Insight Global is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer for a large maritime design and manufacturing company based out of New London, CT. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of relevant experience, and will hold an active security clearance to support the implementation of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) across submarine design programs, including the COLUMBIA Class and future platforms. This role is critical to advancing electric drive control systems and enabling the U.S. Navy’s transition to an All Electric Navy.

    Responsibilities:

    - Lead the development and integration of MBSE practices across engineering disciplines.

     

    - Build and maintain system models using tools such as MATLAB

     

    - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture, interfaces, and requirements.

     

    - Benchmark internal and external MBSE processes and develop action plans for enterprise-wide adoption.

     

    - Support the transformation of shipbuilding processes and data into model-based formats.

     

    - Engage with Navy stakeholders and industry partners to align MBSE goals and deliverables.

     

    - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.

     

    - Prepare and present technical documentation, progress reports, and reviews.

     

    - Component design through internal research and development, with potential domestic travel based on program needs.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

     

    - Must hold an interim or active government secret clearance or be able to obtain one.

     

    - 5-10 years of relevant experience in the field.

     

    - Ability to identify and understand coding language

     

    - Understanding of Embedded Systems and past experience developing models in code generation.

    - Knowledge of C++ coding language, and VAIS/Vivado hardware systems (2-4 years)

    - MATLAB/SIMULINK Experience. - Graduate coursework in project management, engineering management, or business.

     

    - Experience with Agile development and controls rapid prototyping via auto-code generation.

     

    - Knowledge of industry-standard serial and high-speed serial protocols.

     

    - Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the U.S. DoD.

     

    - Experience with Visual Studio, QT, Jira, Git.

     

    - Prior technical experience in embedded system design, control system design, computer/software engineering, hardware engineering.
