    Job Summary

    Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Prepare proposals for funding agencies, operation of research equipment, supervision of graduate students and other lab/field personnel in research. Position is located in Nacogdoches, Texas.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Performs skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research . Plans and directs certain phases in a research project .

    + Assists in the design, planning, and coordinating of field experiments in support of various research projects.

    + Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.

    + Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

    + Evaluates and summarizes results.

    + Assists in preparing and writing proposals to funding agencies; maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

    + Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

    + Installs, operates , maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.

    + Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.

    + Supervises undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

    + Assists with public and professional outreach activities.

    + Greenhouse management and maintenance.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education – Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (a n equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.)

     

    Experience -- Two years of related professional experience

     

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

     

    Knowledge of - knowledge of appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

     

    Ability to - Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

     

    Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
