    Overview:

Are you a seasoned professional in syndicated loan servicing with a passion for leadership and operational excellence? Join our Commercial Lending Operations team as a Manager of Syndication Loan Servicing, where you’ll lead a high-performing team responsible for servicing some of the most complex and high-profile commercial loans in the industry. This is a back-office leadership role focused on managing the full lifecycle of syndicated loan transactions – from booking and funding to payment processing and rate adjustments – while ensuring seamless communication with participating banks and maintaining compliance with legal agreements and internal policies.

    Why This Role Matters:

You’ll be managing the operational backbone of some of the bank’s largest and most strategic lending relationships – including high-profile projects like stadium builds and corporate expansions. These loans are too large for a single institution to carry, and your team ensures that the shared risk and servicing responsibilities are executed flawlessly.

    What You’ll Do:

+ Lead a team of 10+ professionals servicing syndicated loans, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all operational activities.

+ Oversee loan booking, funding, payments, rate rollovers, and advances for a portfolio of large, complex syndicated loans.

+ Act as the primary liaison with participating and lead banks, ensuring clear communication and coordination on all transactions.

+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders including middle office, credit, and risk teams to support post-closing loan activity.

+ Drive process improvement and operational efficiency across the unit, evaluating and enhancing procedures regularly.

+ Monitor and report on unit performance, compiling month-end data for senior leadership.

+ Provide coaching, training, and development to staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

+ Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.

    Education and Experience Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

+ 5 or more years relevant work experience

+ 2 or more years’ work leadership, supervisory, and/or managerial experience, with a proven ability to lead teams and manage performance

    + Syndication lending experience

    Education and Experience Preferred:

+ Strong understanding of commercial lending systems

+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with sophisticated borrowers and financial institutions

+ Proven ability to navigate complex relationships, resolve escalations, and manage risk

    Work Model & Office Location:

+ This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office per week

+ Eligible candidates must live within commuting distance to 575 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14203

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD).
