The Position:

The Technical Writer is responsible for maintaining all aspects of company technical communications as it relates to documentation. The position will develop, and design instructional and informational tools needed to ensure safe, appropriate, and effective use of AtlasIED products and services. The Technical Writer will also combine multi-media knowledge and strong communication skills with technical expertise to educate across the entire spectrum of users' abilities, technical experience, and visual and auditory capabilities.

Looking for qualified candidates in the Elkhart, IN or Phoenix, AZ market.

+ Create and maintain technical documents including installation guides, user manuals, product datasheets, and quick-start guides.

+ Develop compelling product copy, including web copy, white papers, blogs, resource articles, and other marketing assets.

+ Act as project manager for all documentation efforts- identify and interview stakeholders, gather requirements, create workflows, and track progress.

+ Coordinate with product managers, engineers, designers, and marketing to manage timelines, reviews, and approvals.

+ Standardize technical documentation process from planning to completion.

+ Improve existing documentation based on customer and stakeholder feedback.

+ Identify areas for improvement with current product documentation process to increase efficiency, communication, and customer usability.

+ Track and communicate document status across multiple concurrent projects.

+ Prioritize work in an organized and efficient manner, handling multiple projects at the same time, while delivering the expected output.

+ Comprehend complex technical product information and convey it to end users in a manner that is easily understood.

+ Ability to design and conduct a systematic, objective, and critical investigation.

+ Ability to make critical decisions while following MiTek/AtlasIED or ISO procedures.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Communications or Business

EXPERIENCE

+ Experience in the creation of installation/instructional operator manuals and sales related documents

+ Proficient understanding of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

+ Ability to learn MiTek's internal computer systems

+ Experience with desktop-publishing and related applications such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)

+ Experience using Jira, Confluence, or similar Project Management and collaboration tools

Other Requirements

+ Ability to work with outside and inside vendors

+ Ability to interview technical experts to obtain the information necessary to develop content

+ Ability to work in a fast paced environment
