The Horticulturist will employ contemporary expertise in horticultural science, incorporating established best practices and emerging technologies to effectively advance the department-s horticultural objectives.     Essential Criteria:

    + 2-to-4-year degree in horticulture or related field or equivalent work experience.

    + Must demonstrate a strong team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively while also managing time effectively, remaining self-motivated, and adapting to changing priorities.

    + Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.

    + Proficient in basic computer applications, including email and virtual reporting tools, to support effective communication and documentation.

    + Capable of identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues independently using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

    + Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

    + Must possess a valid driver-s license and maintain a good driving record.

    + Occasional travel to various Musco locations.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Innovative problem-solving with a team-oriented mindset.

    + Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Cultivate, propagate, and maintain a wide variety of plant species, ensuring optimal soil conditions, pruning, and horticultural practices to promote plant health, longevity, and productivity.

    + Monitor plant growth and development, removing substandard specimens in accordance with established greenhouse standards and quality protocols.

    + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe greenhouse environment, consistently ensuring optimal conditions for plant growth.

    + Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and greenhouse tools and equipment safely, in compliance with organizational and safety guidelines.

    + Conduct routine inspections and perform minor maintenance on greenhouse systems and equipment; promptly report major malfunctions or issues to the appropriate supervisor.

    + Identify and address plant health concerns, including pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, using integrated pest management and other best practices.

    + Maintain detailed and accurate records of horticultural practices, plant inventory, and production outcomes to support continuous improvement.

    + Contribute to landscape design efforts and the creation of seasonal or themed horticultural displays, both on-site and within the community as directed.

    + Participate in the design and installation of special plant arrangements for events, exhibits, or community outreach initiatives.

    + Provide training, educational support, and guided tours of the greenhouse and its operations upon request.

    + Safely transport and relocate plants as needed for internal or external purposes.
