Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an entry-level Engineer to join our Highways & Traffic Engineering team in Rochester, NY! Recent graduate engineers are encouraged to apply!
You’ll apply engineering fundamentals in technical support of project design teams. You will gain a wide range of experience in traffic, roadways, pedestrian, and bicycle facilities. You’ll work in an office, have an opportunity to do fieldwork, and observe projects in construction. This position may also include opportunities for client-facing interactions to complement team and independent work.
Responsibilities
+ Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques and principles, with the guidance of senior staff, to develop designs, reports, presentation materials, and other elements necessary for project success.
+ Assist senior engineers in developing highway and traffic design plans that may include grading, traffic signals, drainage, pavement, and utilities.
+ Assist senior engineers in engineering calculations, write technical reports, and present findings to project engineers and managers
+ Research code provisions and specifications.
+ Interpret typical engineering drawings and details.
+ Assist senior engineers with project cost estimates.
+ Develop fluency in MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D to create plans, profiles, 3D CADD models, etc.
+ Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, managers, clients, and colleagues.
+ Perform self QA/QC for design methodology, plans, calculations, and outcomes, etc., and to respond efficiently to supervisor's QA/QC of work.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology is required.
+ EIT (Engineer in Training) certification is preferred with the desire to become a licensed PE.
+ Familiarity with highway and/or traffic design concepts and willingness to work on both.
+ Previous experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
+ Willingness to learn new software technologies.
+ General knowledge of NYSDOT specifications and prior experience with NYSDOT or Local Administered Federal Aid projects is a plus.
+ Establish a strong work ethic, good communication skills, attention to detail, and exhibit an eagerness to learn.
+ Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $65,600 to $79,800 per year (depending on qualifications)
