Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT , a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs, has an immediate opportunity for a Welder at our Schlafer operation. The welder is responsible for repairs, fabricating, and assembling custom-designed equipment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

+ Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes

+ Read blueprints and drawings

+ Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

+ Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

+ Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws

+ Proficiency with essential machine tools

+ Maintain equipment that does not compromise safety while fully complying with approved safety regulations.

+ Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma/GED.

+ 3-5 years of welding experience

+ Strong math skills and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic and electric engineering drawings are a plus

+ Must be able to pass a hands-on welding test

+ Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs

+ Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required
