    Brief Position Overview

    The Early Childhood Project ( ECP ) is an outreach program within the Health and Human Development Department at MSU . The ECP is the early care and education career and professional development system for the State of Montana. The ECP partners and provides outreach with state and local early care and education agencies and organizations, institutions of higher education, and professionals working with young children in a variety of settings. Key components of the work of the ECP include: the Statewide Practitioner Registry, the Training Approval System, Professional Development Scholarships and incentives, facilitation of specialized professional development events, as well as statewide policy and systems leadership related to the early care and education workforce. The project staff is dedicated to helping early childhood practitioners achieve career goals in relation to improving the quality of early care and education in Montana. The ECP currently employs six staff at the Bozeman office and one staff in Helena at the Early Childhood Services Bureau office.     Position Details

    General Statement

    The purpose of this position is to provide coordination and management of the Montana Practitioner Registry and Early Childhood scholarships/incentives, database, timely processing, policy implementation and oversight and supporting practicioners with their goals. We are also seeking an individual who is passionate about the field of early care and education, is dedicated to supporting the work of ECP , and who will be an excellent asset to the Early Childhood Project team.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    + Management of the Practitioner Registry, early childhood incentives and career counseling.

    + Supervision of Practitioner Registry staff to ensure correct data entry, timeline and processes remain.

    + Communicate policies and procedures to Montana early childhood practitioners.

    + Final approval of database development items.

    + Management of the ECP policy manual to ensure alignment with national best practices

    + Participate in statewide and national meetings as needed

    + Lead for Practitioner Registry appeals

    + Conduct annual review of staff they are supervising.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood, human development, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

    + Experience with web-based customized database and demonstrated confidence in manipulating web-based data with a high level of accuracy.

    + Experience working in an early childhood setting.

    + Demonstrated experience in use of Publisher, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc. or similar software programs.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Knowledge of Montana’s early childhood professional development system.

    + Knowledge of the early childhood system in Montana that serves young children and families.

    + Demonstrated competence communicating information, procedures, and directions clearly and accurately to a varied early childhood workforce.

    + Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.

    + Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines.

    + Demonstrated experience maintaining effective working relations with co-workers and the public to represent The Early Childhood Project and MSU to others in a professional, positive and courteous manner.
