Description

We are looking for a motivated Project Controller and Finance Business Partner to join our Finance and Operations team in San Francisco, California. This role combines project financial management with firm-wide forecasting and strategic advisory within a detail-focused services environment. Responsibilities:

• Serve as a financial advisor to studio leaders and project managers, offering guidance on budgeting, labor utilization, and project profitability.

• Collaborate with project teams to set up budgets, track costs, and monitor financial health, ensuring compliance with contract terms.

• Review and manage financial and tax-related aspects of client and supplier agreements for alignment with organizational policies.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, analyzing project-level and consolidated firm performance.

• Oversee invoicing, billing, and revenue recognition processes while maintaining communication with clients.

• Reconcile subcontractor expenses and ensure accurate tracking of project expenditures.

• Identify opportunities to optimize fee structures and improve profitability margins.

• Support leadership with ad-hoc financial reviews, process improvements, and strategic analysis.

• Enhance financial systems and workflows in collaboration with IT and other teams.

• Mentor less experienced finance team members to strengthen organizational capabilities.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 7 years of experience in project accounting, FP& A, or finance within detail-oriented services, with a preference for A/E/C sector experience.

• Expertise in financial systems such as Deltek Vision, Oracle, or similar tools; Oracle implementation experience is a plus.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools or dashboard platforms is advantageous.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.

• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to engage diverse stakeholders.

• Familiarity with international finance and construction accounting is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to optimize workflows and refine financial controls for increased efficiency.
