Jacobs is seeking a reliable and skilled Wastewater Maintenance Technician to join our team at a Wastewater Transfer Station in Canton, MI. In this role, you'll play a critical role to ensure the proper operation and upkeep of mechanical systems, pumps, valves, and other infrastructure that support wastewater handling and transfer. As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Based in Canton, MI you’ll become an expert on the wastewater transfer station that moves millions of gallons along our force main. You’ll grow your expertise to help your team succeed in the safe and critical operation, maintenance and repair of mission-essential equipment and components including mechanical, electrical, and general commercial and industrial facilities systems. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise in our client’s facilities. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of your team and our planet.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and piping systems
Basic Computer skills, word and excel
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment
Monitor system performance and identify issues before they become critical
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment logs
Assist in the operation of the wastewater transfer station as needed
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
Respond to emergency maintenance requests on a rotating on-call schedule

* Experience in a mechanical maintenance or similar industrial role (wastewater industry experience a plus)
* Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and willing to learn on the job in areas you are unfamiliar with
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
* Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and PPE usage
* Valid driver’s license with no major infractions and reliable transportation
* Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor weather conditions
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
* High school diploma or GED
* Technical training or certifications in maintenance, plumbing, or electrical work preferred
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
