This position will support the implementation of evidence-based and distinct Indigenous strategies that are defined through the whole child approach of school improvement and more specifically within the framework of the Tribal Student Achievement, Relations, and Resiliency Unit. This includes but is not limited to operational support, family and community engagement, cultural and self-identity infusion, and implementation, Indian Education For All (IEFA) integration, health & wellbeing including social, and emotion supports, school climate, increasing student voice and youth leadership opportunities, and instructional strategies that support highly effective teaching and learning.*__* *__* **_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):_** · Knowledge of Indigenous principles of best practices for effective teaching and learning. · Knowledge of principles of effective professional development and adult education. · Knowledge of history and culture of Montana tribes. · Knowledge of working with American Indian communities and students. · Knowledge and understanding of Montana tribal beliefs, values, and cultural practices. · Knowledge of state and local education entities, resources, and practices. · Knowledge of the rules and processes that guide governmental operations and decision-making. · Skilled in oral and written communication skills. · Skilled in working effectively as a team member, resolving conflicts effectively, seeking improvement in oneself and profession, and accepting changes as expectations, duties, and work directions evolve. · Skilled in establishing and maintaining professional interactions and communications with OPI staff and with educators and others in the field. · Skilled in supporting the direction and activities of the Department of School Improvement and Engagement. · Skilled in determining and providing instructional support and leadership support based on the needs of the district, school, or classroom. · Skilled in utilizing technology, as necessary, for trainings, meetings, and collaboration efforts with schools and teams. · Ability to develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with tribal communities and school leaders to impact positive school change. · Ability to design, plan, and coordinate initiatives between OPI, state agencies, tribal governments, and other educational stakeholders that increase American Indian student educational outcomes. · Ability to work collaboratively with OPI staff and other educators from across the state and nation. · Ability to represent the Superintendent and the OPI responsibly by actively supporting and providing leadership to promote the overall goals and objectives of the Superintendent. **_Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience_**_):_ __ · Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Education, curriculum, instruction, Indian education, Native American studies, or school administration, or related degree. · Three years’ experience in Education, Native American Studies, or related experience · Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. *_Does this sound like you?_* Please tell us how and why by submitting your resume online, including any veterans or disability preference documentation.When submitting the required documents, you must check the “relevant document” box to ensure your attachments are uploading correctly to the specific application for this position.Documents not requested will not be considered in the recruitment process.
