Posting Description
FOUNDATION RELATIONS OFFICER, Office of Foundation Relations (OFR)(Two openings), to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of private foundations and philanthropic entities with the goal of securing gifts at the $100K+ level; work in close partnership with OFR leadership, along with faculty, administrative staff, and other development colleagues across campus, to implement and advance foundation fundraising strategies in alignment with MIT’s priorities; manage a portfolio of foundation prospects; develop subject-matter knowledge in assigned areas; and contribute to proposal development, prospect research, and stewardship activities.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; minimum of 2 years relevant experience in fundraising, preferably in a research, higher education, or other complex environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively for a variety of audiences; ability to understand and communicate academic or technical content to a variety of audiences; demonstrated project management skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment; and discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information and sensitive communications. PREFERRED: Experience with private foundations/philanthropic organizations; familiarity with fundraising databases, prospect research method and tools, and standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); and master’s or other advanced degree.
This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
Must be willing and able to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
