    What we want

     

    The Diagnostic Laboratory Technician I (Histology), under general supervision, performs routine diagnostic histology laboratory tasks, assists in customer service, monitors computers for lab equipment and compiling data. May provide technical assistance in research projects in the area of small animal gastrointestinal function and disease.

     

    What you need to know

     

    Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.

    Qualifications

    Required Education

    + Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in a laboratory

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.

    + Tissue processors, microtomes, automated stainers, and slide scanner.

    Responsibilities

    Histology

    + Performs basic histology duties which include processing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover-slipping and scanning slides.

    + Provides technical assistance in research projects.

    Paperwork & Customer Service

    + Processes paperwork involving histology submissions, including generating worksheets and emails to/from clients and pathologists.

    Supplies & Maintenance

    + Maintains adequate supplies and reagents as needed for efficient laboratory function.

    + Completes order and receipt logs to assure timely and correct arrival of orders.

    + Helps maintain laboratory equipment and spaces.

    Training

    + Trains undergraduate student workers for sample processing assistance.
