    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

    Duration: 36 Weeks

    Hours per Week: 37.5

     

    Pay Rate: $65/hr

    Position Overview:

    Amergis is seeking a dedicated Pre-K Special Day Class Teacher to support the Special Education Program across Santa Maria locations. This role focuses on providing individualized instruction, assessment, and support to students with exceptional needs, while collaborating closely with families, support staff, and external agencies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in coordination with families, therapists, physicians, and support staff.

    + Deliver targeted instruction to students individually or in small groups based on IEP goals.

    + Evaluate academic, social, and emotional progress; maintain detailed student records and adjust IEPs as needed.

    + Collaborate with special education teams, general education staff, and pupil study teams for comprehensive program planning.

    + Supervise and evaluate instructional assistants and volunteers.

    + Maintain regular communication with parents and staff regarding student progress.

    + Ensure student safety and well-being at all times.

    + Promote integration of students into school and community settings, aligning with core curriculum when appropriate.

    + Participate in professional development and in-service training.

    + Develop vocational and community-based training sites and provide instruction within those environments.

    + Coordinate parent training and counseling services, including communication with agencies such as TCRC and Mental Health.

    + May provide specialized health care services to medically fragile students under supervision of the school nurse.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    + Valid California Special Education Credential in Early Childhood required, or willingness to pursue appropriate certification.

    + Flexibility to work across various sites within Santa Barbara County, with potential for daily assignment changes.
