    Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

     

    The Electrical Design Engineer will work closely with skilled professionals in mechanical, electrical, and project management to design electrical systems. This role involves adapting global technologies for North American applications, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and practices. You will champion engineering department methods, providing training, knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and quality assurance.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop and prepare electrical designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data.

    + Create and maintain electrical schematics and other support drawings using EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical software during and after the build cycle.

    + Consult with other departments, project managers/engineers, and fabrication groups before and after the build cycle, making necessary changes to electrical drawings.

    + Ensure equipment design integrity meets functional design requirements, including rate capacity, strength, reliability, and service life expectations.

    + Apply expert knowledge of North American codes, standards, and practices to assess designs and provide technical recommendations.

    + Integrate concepts that enhance equipment and design safety, capturing and addressing both individual and machine safety elements.

    + Create and maintain safety validation documentation, including SISTEMA files.

    + Ensure system performance reliability, conformance to customer specifications, and quality standards.

    + Lead quality checks of completed designs and equipment, providing technical guidance to other engineering team members.

    + Develop engineering department technical guidelines, documentation, and standards.

    + Work with the Systems Planning team to create project estimates detailing material costs and design hours.

    + Maintain device and system engineering drawing packages and support documentation.

    + Maintain budget and schedule commitments during the design cycle.

    + Research electrical parts, justify product choices, and submit purchase orders for electrical components.

    + Attend project kick-off meetings to gain knowledge on project specifications and provide hours and material cost estimates.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN software.

    + Ability to perform design calculations.

    + Experience in automation design for material handling systems.

    + Understanding of safety standards.

    + Minimum ten years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in an industrial/engineering/automation environment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Experience with schematic design and automation systems.

    Work Environment

    The position involves up to 20% travel for layout confirmation, specifications, and equipment inspection/run-off. The company offers a collaborative environment where team members understand deadlines and work responsibilities.     This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

    This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,NC.
