Our Sturtevant, WI location is part of our Meat Division and creates dry seasoning blends for meat and snacks items that spice up the life of Kerry customers. Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is per hour is $21 to $32.31 and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
What You'll Do
1st Shift is 8 am to 4 pm.
Overview:
The Quality Systems Specialist supports the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems by maintaining inventory control systems, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with GMPs, sanitation, and food safety standards. Reporting to the Quality Systems Supervisor this role plays a key part in internal audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Systems Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams and acts as a resource for quality-related issues across the site.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all established Kerry LIFE Safety, Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, and processing policies with an eye towards quality.
Follow and enforce procedures and practices of the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
Perform batch record reviews and coordinate with operations to correct errors.
Maintain laboratory record file systems.
Participate as an integral member of the internal audit team.
Perform thorough review and maintenance of quality documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with current procedures
Collaborate with internal departments to clarify procedures and resolve uncertainties, ensuring consistent application of quality standards across the site.
Support essential functions in the Quality Control Lab as needed.
Promote teamwork and actively participate in all Quality Control activities.
Enforce and support GMP policies; serve as an internal GMP inspector and present findings.
Assist with documentation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) related to investigations, audits, and out-of-specification results.
Participate in inter-departmental project teams.
Act as a backup for pre-operational sanitation verification, including the ATP program.
Assist in maintaining and developing the environmental monitoring program. Acts as a back-up in performing environmental monitoring, analyzing results and giving sanitation direction.
Support third-party audits as needed.
Any other duties as assigned by supervision.
What You'll Need To Succeed
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of quality systems and food safety.
Familiarity with current GMPs, HACCP, and allergen awareness.
Computer literacy.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in interdepartmental teams.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
College degree in a relevant field.
25 years of experience in food production or a food quality control lab setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Intelex, and SAP.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in both office and laboratory settings within a dry blend food manufacturing facility located in Sturtevant, WI.
Exposure to a hygienic production environment with airborne food-grade powders; appropriate PPE is required, including safety glasses, lab coats, gloves, hairnets, beard nets, hard hats, and steel-toed shoes.
Regular physical activities include use of hands, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional stooping or kneeling.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb stairs as needed.
Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to hear and communicate verbally in a production and lab environment.
