EHS Technician

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is searching for an E nvironmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician support s facility -wide EHS operations by completing critical tasks related to all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Shaw Management System (SMS) and SAFE requirements, and general industry b est p ractice s . The EHS Technician reports directly to the EHS Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIE S

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Maintain a working knowledge of all Shaw SAFE system programs, the Shaw Environmental Handbook and SMS

+ Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements per Plant SI Safety Polic ies and Risk Management SAFE Procedures .

+ Record EHS data and report s for the Plant SI Management Team

+ Serve as a re source regarding EHS concerns for hourly associates

+ Coordinate drills for the Plant’s Emergency Action Plan and the Plant Emergency Organization

+ Maintain Shift Safety Committee meeting minutes and coordinate support for the Shift Safety Champions

+ Maintain current chemical S afety D ata S heet s in Shaw’s online HSI system

+ Maintain th e EHS website

+ Coordinate routine PPE audits to include managing vendors for safety eyeglass es , safety shoe s/boots , and molded ear plug s

+ Participate in i ncident i nvestigation s and follow up on C orrective A ctions

+ Assist with various facility inspections by outside agencies

+ Maintain safety program related to contractor and vendor access

+ Perform SAFE system compliance audits and tasks which may include , but not be limited to: F ire and life safety systems, lock-out procedures, P owered Industrial Trucks, Hot work permits, etc.

+ Other duties as assigned by Department Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

+ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel , and PowerPoint

+ Strong organization al skills with attention to detail

+ Ability to work within a team or independently as required

+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

EDUCATION/TRAINING

+ High School diploma or GED equivalency

+ Previous experience in a industrial/manufacturing environment

+ OSHA 30 hr General Industry certification and/or related safety certification (preferred)

+ Fall Protection Competent Person certified (Preferred) or must be able to obtain within 3 months of obtaining the position

+ CPR/First Aid certified by the American Red Cross or must be able to obtain within 3 months of obtaining the position

+ Must be able to obtain Hoisting and Rigging Authorizing Person certification

+ Valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record (preferred)

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
