Description
Job Summary
This position will perform repairs on molds and operate injection molding machines and related equipment. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on molds, diagnosing mold-related malfunctions, and fabricating mold components using tools and machinery.
Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $28 to $31 per hour. Overtime is paid for any hours worked beyond 8 in a day or 40 in a workweek. Overtime may be scheduled as needed based on business demands.
Job Duties
+ Maintain and repair molds.
+ Set up and maintain equipment for intended mold design.
+ May install die on machine using clamps, bolts, and hand tools. Adjusts stroke of RAM.
+ Operate various tools and equipment to fabricate mold components, including cores, cavities, and inserts, in accordance with design specifications.
+ May set machine controls to ensure process control during manufacturing cycle according to procedures.
+ Operate hand and power tools, precision instruments, testing devices, and CNC equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders.
+ May perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of building does not deteriorate.
+ Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
+ Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
+ Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
+ Verifies critical dimensions and submits the product to Quality Assurance for approval.
+ Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.

Position Requirements
Impact
+ Repair and daily monitoring of molds and related equipment to ensure continuous production.
+ Communicates with Director Plant Engineering to gain approval/escalate necessary changes for plant repair/maintenance.

+ Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards they discover.

+ Operating any vehicles, equipment, tools, or machines only if they are authorized to do so.
+ Reporting any injury or loss immediately to the supervisor/team lead.
+ Promoting a positive attitude about safety and never performing any unsafe practice that could place the employee or others in danger.
+ Providing information to their immediate supervisor if a better and safer procedure can be implemented in performing any operation.

+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
+ Able to identify and resolve mold-related issues.
+ Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
+ Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Skills/Technical Skills
+ Computer skills necessary to operate the system maintenance program and operations software.
+ Understanding of molding, hydraulics, and basic electrical.
+ Ability to work any shift including 2nd and 3rd shifts.
Knowledge
+ Proficient knowledge of mold making techniques, materials, and processes.
+ Understands regulated type industries a plus.
+ Knowledge of medical device manufacturers and supplies knowledge a plus.
+ World-class manufacturing knowledge a plus.
Physical Requirements
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy objects up to 50 lbs using good posture and lifting techniques, if object is at an awkward angle or height, a 2-person lift or assist device should be used. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
+ A medical examination to confirm an individual’s ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position is a pre-employment requirement and individuals may also be required to complete a Fitness for Duty Examination upon return from a medical leave of absence or when otherwise job-related and consistent with business necessity.
Education
+ Associates degree a plus..
Experience
+ Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
