    Agronomy Customer Service & Inventory Specialist

     

    Location Grinnell, Iowa

     

    The Agronomy Customer Service & Inventory Specialist provides comprehensive support to the agronomy department by combining customer service, administrative, and inventory management responsibilities. This role serves as the key point of contact for customers while also ensuring accurate billing, product movement, and reconciliation of both company-owned and third-party-owned products. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks during both regular operations and peak agronomy seasons.

    Quality of Work

    + Serve as the first point of contact for agronomy customers, providing professional and courteous assistance in person, by phone, and through digital communication.

    + Accurately enter, process, and maintain agronomy work orders, sales orders, and delivery tickets.

    + Manage inventory for agronomy products, including receiving, shipping, transfers, and reconciliation of company-owned and third-party-owned inventory.

    + Oversee agronomy billing processes, including but not limited to dry and liquid fertilizer, NH3, chemicals, and related services.

    + Perform daily, monthly, and seasonal inventory reconciliation and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    + Support agronomy operations by coordinating with applicators, drivers, and other staff to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.

    + Provide Key Cooperative with customer service by handling customer inquiries, order taking, and other assigned duties.

    + Properly weigh and grade grain deliveries as needed.

    + Understand customers, their needs and buying habits; inform customers of programs and product promotions.

    Service Response Times

    + Manage inbound and outbound shipments to specified locations as required.

    + Responsible for the handling of mail. Stamps, sorts, and distributes mail. Prepares items for courier service.

    + Promptly answers all phone calls, voicemails and electronic communications.

    + Perform administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.

    Team Support

    + Assist with scale operations when needed.

    + Responsible for preparing transfer documentation and bill of ladings,

    + Prepares daily bank deposit in accordance with Key Cooperative’s policies. This includes checking daily receipts against actual cash, scanning checks, and entering deposit correctly in Key Cooperative’s computer system.

    + Responsible for maintaining the inventory of office supplies for the office.

    Customer Service

    + Work extended hours during peak seasons as required.

    + Take the initiative in providing outstanding and courteous customer service.

    + Project a positive attitude and image to customers and employees at all times.

    + Promote and supports all of Key Cooperative's products, services, and programs, and builds positive goodwill with current and prospective customers.

    Other Responsibilities

    + Records and keeps track of all required information to support accurate reporting.

    + Assist with seasonal promotions, customer communications, and agronomy service scheduling.

    + Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by your supervisor.

    + Excel daily personally and professionally.

    + Read and follow company employee policies.

     

    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has the ability to learn and understand machinery operation and dry material handling, and to learn grain elevator operations on the job. Previous experience in customer service, accounting, agronomy operations, or inventory management strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP or agronomy software (such as Agvance) is a plus.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    + Valid Driver's License
