JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Trade School or Associate's Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field required.

Experience

3-5 years' experience in industrial/processing engineering required.

JOB DUTIES

+ Participates at the initiation phase of new product lines/processes.

+ Analyzes process control proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.

+ Provides technical information concerning techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product planning.

+ Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform process control tasks.

+ Helps prepare complete quality construction packages (including deliverables such as wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and instrument details) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of instrument and controls systems for the plant.

+ Helps prepare instrumentation and control system specifications.

+ Assists in the specification and programming DCS and PLC equipment.

+ Assists in control system checkout, troubleshooting and field logic revisions.

+ Performs design tasks in accordance with accepted engineering practices and standards utilizing both manual and computer-based methods.

+ Executes work in accordance with schedule and coordinates execution of projects with other functional leaders and project manager.

+ Serves as a resource to plant maintenance personnel and provides training to help upgrade our maintenance capabilities.

+ Support facility utility systems (boiler, compressed air, sprinkler, air handling, HVAC, water, fire alarm, cameras, security systems, etc.)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

+ Ability to read and develop control logic diagrams.

+ Ability to read and develop cause and effect charts.

+ Ability to prepare instrument data sheets.

+ Ability to read and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams.

+ Knowledge of engineering practices/principles and the ability to develop, analyze, and implement engineering methods and processes.

+ Knowledge of industrial engineering designs and drafting and the ability to modify electrical systems and control processes to existing facilities.

+ Ability to interpret and communicate process control plans and specifications.

+ Knowledge of manufacturing costs associated with implementing control designs and equipment and the ability to prepare written product feasibility reports to management.

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word).

+ Knowledge of Allen-Bradley's PowerFlex 70/700 series AC-Drive.

+ Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, MS Sql, Oracle, etc.)

+ Ability to interpret production data, perform production capacity studies, and prepare written recommendations to management.

+ Ability to modify and adapt equipment/machinery to advance product process to full operational capacity.

+ Ability to operate a variety of software programs, specifically those concerned with process control. Such programs would include RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, and AutoCAD.

+ Ability to design and configure PLC fieldbus network through RSNetworx for DeviceNet and ControlNet.

+ Ability to design and configure Ethernet topology for a distributed control system using the Ethernet/IP communication protocol.

+ Ability to effectively communicate with Essentia personnel, contractors, vendors, suppliers, customers, and other business-related contacts in a respectful manner.

+ Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities, such as product development information, engineering methods, techniques, and current or future projects.

+ Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

+ Ability to operate all necessary office equipment required to accomplish job duties, such as computers, telephones, fax machines, etc.

+ Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment.

+ Ability to work daily and extended hours as needed.

+ Ability to assist with special or ongoing projects as instructed by management.

+ Ability to recognize food safety violations or product quality issues and resolve immediately or, if unable to resolve immediately, contact the Plant Manager and/or the Quality manager.
