About this Job
The LSUS College of Business is seeking a dynamic individual for appointment as Assistant to the Dean. The Assistant to the Dean is the first point of contact in the Dean’s office. The role includes overall operational support of the LSUS College of Business. In doing so, the Assistant to the Dean must be capable of performing important coordinating responsibilities with the various constituents interacting with the Dean’s Office, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, the Business Advisory Council, and other campus and community stakeholders. The preferred candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to perform in a multi-task environment. The normal work schedule for the Assistant to the Dean is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. However, the Deans and College of Business Chairs host and/or participate in university related events and meetings that sometimes occur outside of normal hours and/or on weekends, so flexibility is required.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree. LSUS values skills, experience and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply - a degree is not required if the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.
+ 2-3 years’ experience in marketing, public relations, communication, or related field
+ Ability to maintain databases and provide reporting based on college needs.
+ Ability to multitask and adapt to varying workload responsibilities and priorities.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong critical thinking and social skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to use standard office technology such as MS Outlook, Excel, and Word along with the expectation and ability to learn new software programs.
+ Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of constituents, including those inside academia, as well as external stakeholders, community representatives, and political officials
Evidence of organizational skills such as attention to detail when preparing or reviewing documents plus experience with filing/storing records electronically.
Job Duties and Other Information
Specific responsibilities of the Assistant to the Dean include the following:
+ Assist the Dean with administrative duties.
+ Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process, including posting job openings, scheduling travel, and completing internal hiring paperwork.
+ Assist with creating and managing records related to faculty such as additional compensation and budgeting.
+ Manage sensitive information and records while maintaining confidentiality.
+ Assist with facility and asset management, such as room scheduling, tracking LSUS property, etc.
+ Facilitating consistent communication about College of Business developments, initiatives, and needs, including assisting with the development of marketing content.
+ Collaborating with internal and external constituencies for special events.
+ Collaborating with the Deans, Department Chairs, and academic staff to facilitate college strategic initiatives, particularly student engagement initiatives.
+ Developing and cultivating relationships between the College of Business advisory council.
+ Working closely with the Deans and Admissions Office to support recruiting efforts.
+ Working with Institutional Research and Career Services to track information on student outcomes.
+ Collaborating with the Accreditation Coordinator and the Deans to maintain and update official documents.
+ Performing other duties as directed by the Dean of the College of Business.
