Jacobs is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, talented Traffic Engineer to join our team. As a Traffic Engineer, you will perform a variety of work including traffic signal and ITS design, traffic analysis and studies, report writing, and transportation planning tasks supporting our public sector clients.

You will utilize your expertise by performing the design of intersection and traffic design projects according to each agency’s standards and plan development processes. We’ll look to you to develop traffic studies, traffic engineering reports, crash analyses, and other traffic engineering tasks.
As a key member of the team, you’ll lead and manage development and implementation of coordinated traffic signal timing plans, including building and optimizing traffic models, developing timing databases, coordinating with agency staff to determine implementation needs/desires, implementing new timings, fine tuning new timings, and conducting before and after studies.
Additional responsibilities in this role will include:
• Assessing performance of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepare reports.
• Developing designs for safety oriented projects.
• Performing screening analysis for traffic and safety forward projects
• Providing on-site assistance to our clients
• Effectively managing assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule.
• Managing client expectations to ensure client is highly satisfied with project(s).
• Mentoring/training junior staff
• Developing new business by fostering existing and new client relationships
• Periodic travel required within PA, DE, MD and neighboring states.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
• Progressive experience in ITS/Traffic Engineering projects
• Previous PennDOT, DelDOT, or MDTA/MDSHA experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
• Previous experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD
• Ability to travel locally as needed
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in 24 months
