    Department Marketing Statement:

    Washington Metro Transit Authority is seeking a Network Operation Center Analyst I, Operations Technology staff to work within the Unified Digital Response (UDR). The incumbent must be highly technical and essential in this position to support Metro Integrated Command and Communication (MICC) and authority wide operations 24x7x365.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum** **Education

    + Highschooldiploma orGED.

    Minimum** **Experience

    + Three(3)yearsofprogressivelyresponsibleexperienceinprovidingdatacenterinfrastructure engineering services, and specific hands-on technical support as a provider of data center services.

    + Mustincludetwo(2)years ofexperienceinlarge-scale,hybrid data centers.

    Preferred** **Qualifications

    + CertifiedDataCenter ManagementProfessional

    + DataCenterInfrastructureSpecialist

    + DataCenterCertifiedAssociate

    Summary

    The Information Technology Data Center Technician position supports all aspects of Washington Metro Area Transit Authority¿s data center facilities in a 24/7; 365-day hybrid enterprise environment. The Technician monitors and maintains an accurate data center asset inventory; installs and configures network equipment, and cabling and coordinates data center systems intake/decommissioning. This role ensures that data center physicalinspections are completed; maintains the facility¿s physical appearance; manages facility access control; and reports issues to the IT Data Center Engineer and management. The incumbent produces and maintains data center documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures, statements of work, and other documentation. The Technician provides input to the IT Data Center Engineerregarding efficiencies and cost savingsfor all data center installations; and ensures data center assets maintains a 99.99% uptime.

    Essential Functions

    + Install,remove,andaddresstechnicalissuesinhardwareindatacentersrackswithoutdisturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure on site.

    + Servesasthesecondarypointofcontactforalltechnicalgroups,customersandvendors accessing or seeking access into the IT Data Centers

    + Ensuresdatacenterassetsareproperlysecuredandmanagedincompliancewithindustrybest practices

    + Implementsdatacenteraccesspoliciesandprocedures,datacenterusageprotocolsandsafety guidelines.

    + Enforcesstandarddatacenteroperatingproceduresarebeingfollowedbyallstaff,visitorsand vendors

    + Monitorstheday-to-dayoperationsoftheITDataCenters,toincludeprovidingoversightofdata center infrastructure assets, services and environment

    + Monitors/inspects the data center access control system; audits data center access logs and interfaceswithstaff,visitorsandvendorstomonitorcompliancewithdatacenteraccessstandard operating procedures

    + Ensurestheupkeepandmaintenanceofdatacenterfacilitiesbyperformingspecifictasks,which include but not limited to cleaning, organizing, inspecting,and testing safetyapparatus, checking deadlines for replacing fire extinguishers, and other fire suppression equipment and environmental control devices, and checking security alarms

    + Conductsassetburn-in,testing,and configuration

    + Coordinatesworkperformedinthedatacentersbydatacentercustomers,vendorsandITstaff, including work performed after hours

    + Ensurestheoverallqualityofdatacenteroperationsandservicesandcompliancewithall applicable Service Level Agreements (SLA)s

    + Monitorsinstallationsandupgradesofsystemshousedinthedata center

    + Evaluatesandrecommendsappropriatesolutionstomeetdatacenteroperational requirements

    + Supportstechnicalgroupsandvendorsperformingmaintenanceandtroubleshootingensures significant interruptions and downtime are avoided

    + Gathersdatacenterperformancedataandrecommendsperformanceimprovements

    + Worksextremelywellinahigh-pressureteamenvironmentwithastrongfocusonrapidresponse and real time issue resolution

    + Overseesanddocumentsdatacenterequipmentintakeanddecommissioningprocesses

    + Monitorsscheduledmaintenanceusesdiscretiontoeliminatepossibleerrorsthatmayleadto critical events or operational impacts

    + Documentsandmaintainsthedatacenterenvironmenttoincludetopologydiagrams,floorplans, architectural drawings, and develops related documents as needed

    + Performsdiagnosticsandtroubleshootingfollowingstandardprocedures,quicklyidentifiesthe cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components with minimal customer and business disruption.

    + Overseesonsiteworkperformedbycontractorsandisresponsibleforvisitingcurrentandfuture data centers as part of operations.
