Looking for a FT Registered Nurse Bariatric Program Manager
Department: Surgery Outpatient
Summary:
+ The Bariatric Program Manager will primarily be responsible for the design, structure, and on-going maintenance and growth of the Bariatric Program in conjunction with the Bariatric Surgery Program Director. Responsible for facilitating best practices for bariatrics across the health system.
Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for the design, structure, and growth of the UPHS Bariatric Surgery Program in conjunction with the Program Director. Provides patient education and counseling that reflects current nutrition management principles. Ensures nutrition assessments, interventions, and patient care protocols and monitoring are performed in a manner consistent with departmental policy.
+ In collaboration with the MBS Director submits timely and complete Annual Compliance Reports. Maintains and reports program statistics on at least a monthly basis.
+ Drives innovation throughout the Bariatric Surgery program including new technology, treatment modalities and strategic partnerships and alliances.
+ Manages system-wide accreditation process to ensure that the program meets expectations established by MBSAQIP Standards and other governing agencies. Updates information and changes across the system. Leads HUP MBSAQIP site survey. Acquires and maintains all required program accreditations.
+ Manage recruitment, development, performance evaluation, staffing, and cross-coverage of Program Coordinators at PAH, PPMC, and HUP including the data coordinator position and registered dietitians. Assigns work that uses staff skills and talents, provides responsibility and challenge, allows for creativity, and offers leadership opportunities. Continually provides guidance and support to team members.
+ Maintains continuous staff education based on best practices, guidelines, and performance outcomes. Ensures an ongoing education program for the bariatric surgery team is established and maintained to ensure a basic understanding of metabolic and bariatric surgeries performed at the center, including the risks and benefits for all procedures, signs and symptoms of postoperative complications, safe patient care, care mobilization and sensitivity training to prevent weight bias.
+ In collaboration with the MBS Director submits timely and complete Annual Compliance Reports. Collaborates with compliance and billing to resolve insurance coverage issues.
+ Practice management and project organization-Provides oversight for the bariatric surgery support groups including scheduling, coverage, and facilitation. Provides patient education and counseling that reflects current nutrition management principles. Documents nutrition assessment, intervention, and monitoring in a manner consistent with departmental policy.
+ Coordinates Tri Facility Bariatric Program throughout UPHS - Leads in bariatric-specific quality improvement initiatives across the health system to ensure safe, efficacious and high-quality care is provided to each patient at all times.
+ Continuous Quality Improvement-Manages system-wide accreditation process to ensure that the program meets expectations established by MBSAQIP Standards and other governing agencies and communications across the Health System.
+ Management of bariatric program personnel (nurses, dieticians)
+ Leads in bariatric-specific quality improvement initiatives across the health system to ensure safe, efficacious and high-quality care is provided to each patient at all times. Ensures that the clinic and inpatient hospital environment (facility, equipment, and furniture), clinicians, and staff appropriately accommodate all prospective metabolic and bariatric patients.
+ Symposiums, lectures, writing papers- Attends and makes presentations at conferences and education sessions as needed.
Credentials:
+ RN with State License (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
+ 5+ years Bariatrics specialty experience preferred
