    Applications received in response to this announcement will be used fill Intermittent SEPA-Paraprofessional vacancies at the MN State Academy for the Blind.

     

    Applicants submitting resumes to this announcement will be in a pool of candidates considered throughout the school year for substitute SEPA positions as they become available. Intermittent employee are called in on an as needed basis to fill behind absent staff. This position is not benefit eligible.

     

    This position provides substitute paraprofessional academic classroom instruction or student management aide support at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind.

     

    + Under general supervision, contributes to the design and delivery of academic instructional programs to blind/visually impaired students. Provides educational instruction and uses a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors.

    Minimum Qualifications

    At least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education; or

    An associate’s or higher degree; or

    A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment (Parapro or Paraeducator) demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language, writing, mathematics or readiness for each.

    + Knowledge or experience working with students in an educational and/or dormitory setting as a caregiver.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Knowledge of multi-challenged/blind/visually impaired students and educational practices

    + Experience working with blind/visually impaired students in an educational setting.

    Physical Requirements

    + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.
