Position Purpose

At the **Connecticut Joint and Spine Institute** within **Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center** , the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre & PACU unit provides comprehensive perioperative care for patients undergoing orthopedic and spine procedures in a specialized surgical setting.

What You Will Do

+ Deliver high-quality pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for patients undergoing joint and spine surgeries.

+ Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, initiate IVs, and support anesthesia preparation.

+ Monitor patients through Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, pain control, and readiness for discharge or inpatient transfer.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

+ Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing required.

+ Valid RN license in Connecticut

Preferred:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

+ The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery

+ Candidates with 2 or more years of Emergency Room or ICU nurse experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills. **Note** : Training is not available for candidates without this expertise

+ BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)

+ ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)

Position Highlights and Benefits

+ Full-Time – **36** hours/week – Day Shift

+ Monday thru Friday, no weekend or holidays.

+ 12-Hour Shifts, 5:00 am to 5:30 pm

+ Minimal on-call to support off shifts and weekends; frequency is once per 7 weeks or based on unit needs
