    Job Profile: Cyber Security Intern

     

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

     

    Hy-Vee is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to join our IT Security team for Summer 2026. As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will gain hands-on experience protecting enterprise systems, monitoring threats, and supporting initiatives that keep our customers and employees safe. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced security engineers and analysts in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

     

    You’ll have exposure to a variety of cybersecurity domains, including threat detection, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and incident response.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Assist with monitoring and analyzing security alerts from enterprise systems and tools.

    + Support incident response activities, including triage, documentation, and remediation.

    + Help perform vulnerability scans and track remediation efforts across systems.

    + Work with Identity & Access Management to review and test security controls, Active Directory configurations, and permissions.

    + Participate in security awareness and training initiatives for employees.

    + Research and present on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, or best practices in cybersecurity.

    + Document processes, findings, and recommendations for continuous improvement.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    + Working toward or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or related technical field.

    + Familiarity with network security concepts, Active Directory, firewalls, or endpoint protection.

    + Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, or Bash preferred).

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Effective communicator who can explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    + Highly detail-oriented and eager to learn in a collaborative environment.
