    Job Title: Construction Project Engineer/ Assistant Construction Manager

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Engineer who will report to the Lead Construction Manager. This role involves coordinating with Inspector Resident Project Representatives (RPRs) and Project Managers, as well as assisting in training and overseeing inspection staff to ensure effective time, cost management, documentation, communication, risk management, and quality assurance.

    Responsibilities

    + Manage both people and projects effectively.

    + Maintain administration duties such as tracking budgets, schedules, and projects.

    + Visit project sites to attend client/project meetings and fill in for RPRs, which will occasionally require overnight travel.

    + Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspections as needed.

    + Facilitate and conduct regularly scheduled construction meetings.

    + Coordinate with contractors to schedule inspection activities and resolve design and field issues.

    + Assist with project management for technical and cost efforts to meet deadlines and budgets.

    + Oversee validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify their conformance to specifications.

    + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for construction procedures and safe working conditions.

    Essential Skills

    + B.S. or Technology Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

    + Professional experience working on water, wastewater, or sewer projects.

    + Ability to read and interpret construction plan sets, project drawings, and specifications.

    + Proficiency in MS Word and Excel with the ability to prepare professional documents.

    + Ability to analyze project costs and an understanding of bidding, estimating, and project risk assessment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Ability to multi-task and carry out projects with tight deadlines.

    + Familiarity with federally-funded infrastructure is a plus.

    + Experience with Procore is a plus.

    + Previous Construction Inspection Experience.

    + Ability to run professional meetings.

    + Strong work ethic and organizational skills.

    Work Environment

    The position is based out of the Indy North office and involves working standard construction hours from 7 AM to 4 PM, with some overtime expected. Candidates must be willing to travel to job sites across the State of Indiana, including occasional overnight travel. Reliable transportation is necessary, and mileage will be reimbursed at the federal reimbursement rate along with hotel and per diem when needed. The work involves managing a team of 26-30 RPRs and providing support for municipal water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water treatment plants, and underground sewer lines.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
