Job Title: Sterile Processing Assistant (no certifications required)

The Sterile Processing Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Sterile Processing Department by ensuring the safe and efficient transport, cleaning, and preparation of surgical instruments, carts, and containers. This position contributes directly to patient safety and surgical team readiness by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities

+ Transport Duties

+ Safely transport instruments, equipment, and surgical containers between departments.

+ Deliver case carts and sterile containers to designated surgical areas.

+ Cleaning & Decontamination

+ Assist with cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment.

+ Wipe down surgical carts and prep containers to ensure they are free of debris and contaminants.

+ Clean and prepare surgical carts and containers for reuse.

+ Tray & Instrument Preparation

+ Assist in assembling instrument trays and sets according to procedure requirements.

+ Ensure proper labeling and organization of instruments and supplies.

+ Quality & Safety

+ Follow infection control protocols and departmental procedures.

+ Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

+ Report any damaged or missing instruments to supervising personnel.

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

+ Previous experience in a healthcare or sterile processing environment preferred.

+ Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.

+ Physical ability to lift, push, and transport heavy carts and equipment.

Working Conditions

+ Exposure to cleaning chemicals and medical equipment.

+ Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.

Available Shifts

Shift Type/Hours:

Evening: 2PM-10PM

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
