    Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse population of Queens through a broad network of programs and services for Children and Young Adults, Adults and Families, and Older Adults. We are a modern interpretation of the traditional settlement house, bringing to our work current best practices, cost-effective management, innovative leadership, and a passion for social and economic justice. Our mission is to provide individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities. QCH programs serve approximately 25,000 Queens residents each year in neighborhoods throughout the borough.

     

    Queens Childcare Network (QCCN) seeks to expand our engagement to the communities within our existing network of licensed family-based childcare providers. We also plan to extend our work with the NYC DOE, other Family Child Care Networks (FCCN), local schools, and CBOs in Queens. Through a new project funded by the WIC Community (https://www.hellowic.org/about-wic-ciao-project/) Innovation and Outreach (WIC CIAO) , (https://www.hellowic.org/about-wic-ciao-project/) QCCN has extended our impact with a range of in-person events and virtual workshops to support WIC eligible parents, with children of age 5 or younger, to foster empowerment, knowledge, and increased WIC access.

     

    The HRC will facilitate community engagement and program management activities. This is a metric-driven role which reports directly to the QCH-Childcare Network Director. This is a full-time, grant-funded, temporary position with the potential for future funding or internal transfer opportunities. Tasks include but are not limited:

     

    + Conducting Community Outreach to engage with the target parent population and stakeholders to promote the project scope and assess most relevant needs.

    + Organizing WIC Ambassador Trainings and Monthly Meetings to maximize communication, resource coordination, and information sharing.

    + Maintain up-to-date contact information for all WIC inquiries and referrals.

    + Assist families in need of referral information or non-emergency guidance on parenting issues.

    + Perform WIC Pre-Screening to determine WIC eligibility.

    + Provide families with approved referrals and resources to promote family wellness.

    + Hosting in-person educational and family events including workshops on WIC, child nutrition, and parent resources, as well as community baby showers.

    + Arranging and/or facilitating WIC related webinars (one in English; one in Spanish or another language) on authorized topics for parents with young children.

    + Implementing WIC Surveys to assess and adapt the program.

    + Collecting accurate and relevant data to demonstrate measurable impact of the project.

    + Translate verbally and in writing, as indicated.

    + Participate in all WIC, QCCN or QCH Meetings: Actively seek to increase knowledge and understanding of relevant issues impacting QCCN and our WIC Project.

    + Support our Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) with monthly visits to participating licensed family-based childcare programs throughout Queens to facilitate compliance monitoring.

    + Other Tasks as indicated, by QCCN Director.

    Qualifications:

    + Higher education/degree in Public Health, Human Services, Sociology, or a Related Field or;

    + Five or more years of experience in project management, public health, education, or human services;

    + Familiarity with, and/or participation in, the WIC Program;

    + Data collection and/or metric-driven community outreach experience;

    + Ability to efficiently travel via mass transit or car throughout Queens;

    + Strong time management, written and verbal communication skills;

    + Detail-oriented, flexible; Able to pivot and multi-task;

    + Strong professional judgment and interpersonal skills;

    + Experience in conducting Community Outreach and Resource Awareness:

    + Cultural sensitivity in supporting marginalized families from diverse communities;

    + Computer Literate: Microsoft Office Suites, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom and Google Docs;

    + Knowledge of creating and utilizing Microsoft Forms Surveys to measure social impact;

    + Bilingual Spanish; Ability to read, write and speak fluently (required); and

    + NYC DOE PETS Clearance.

    Schedule:

    + M-F; 35 hours/week

    + Typically, 9am-5pm

    + Hours may vary depending on business needs

    + Evenings and weekends, as indicated

    + Adjustments allowed, with advanced approval, by Network Director

    Compensation:

    + $24-$26 per hour, depending on credentials and experience
