Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Commercial Truck Driving Adjunct Instructor position in the Economic Development division. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Commercial Truck Driving Instructor responsibilities will include:

Job Duties include, but mat not be limited to the following:

•T raining and assisting students in developing the skills necessary to obtain the Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) on both driving range and on the road.

• Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques and evaluate students’ progress on attaining goals and objectives.

•R equest and maintain supplies and equipment.

• Maintain program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate.

•P repare and maintain all required documentation and administrative records.

• Ensure safety and security requirements are met.

• Meet with students and staff members to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues.

•A ssist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

• Maintain knowledge of current developments in the field.

• Maintain qualifications for employment and follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of GA policy manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

• May perform other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

• Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials.

• Knowledge of vocational area of assignment.

• Skill in presenting subject matter.

•S kill in administering tests to evaluate progress.

•S kill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.

•S kill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.

Minimum Requirements:

+ Must possess and demonstrate a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and a certification from a post-secondary institution of driving school in the Commercial Driving Field.

+ Completion of post-secondary CDL certificate or equivalent *AND* two (2) years or more of verifiable over-the-road (OTR) driving experience

+ Must be able to teach (1) Pre-trip; (2) Backing maneuvers; (3) On a 10-speed manual 53ft commercial truck.

+ Must pass a drug screen and have CDL Class A license and medical certificate.

+ Must demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

WORK SCHEDULE: May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
