Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Application Services, this position will play a key role in designing, planning, selecting, implementing, enhancing, and developing technology solutions and operational support models across several functional areas and systems governed by RFSUNY. The Associate Director will assist in the development of strategy, processes, skills, and operational practices to support continuous improvements in the core RF business activities and business alignment to effectively translate business strategy and objectives into technological capability. The Associate Director of Business Applications will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of business applications and software solutions that support the organization's operations, productivity, and strategic goals. This role plays a crucial part in driving technological innovation, efficiency, and business process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Enterprise Application Services' responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership:
+ Maximize effectiveness and minimize costs related to enterprise-wide IT applications. Develop and encourage strong collaborative working relationships with campuses, SUNY, and RF stakeholders to ensure technology solutions support business needs.
+ Participate in planning processes to align technology investments with current and future business objectives.
+ Collaborate with the IT leadership team to define and execute the IT strategy and vision.
+ Collaborate with business units to prioritize projects and manage the application portfolio.
+ Align business application initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
+ Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to gain a competitive advantage and provide strategic direction to ensure the team maximizes impact on the organization.
+ Collaborate with campus stakeholders to understand their existing and emerging needs, seek solutions for these strategic and operational needs, and provide guidance in utilizing applications to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Establish priorities and set direction for the team based on the needs of the business as well as ITS strategic direction, including oversight to ensure completion within prescribed deadlines.
Application Development, Business Analysis, and Management:
+ Foster and contribute to a culture grounded in people development, learning, problem solving, and teamwork. Models' exceptional customer service and professionalism standards while coaching the team to these standards.
+ Lead a team of business analysts and application developers, drive consistent vision and focus across the team.
+ Oversee the full software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
+ Ensure the development and maintenance of high-quality, reliability, and secure applications.
+ Provide functional expertise and leadership in the areas of business requirements, functional requirements, business process redesign, testing, and transition planning.
+ Collaborate with RF Business stakeholders to identify recommendations for process improvements, overcome business and functional constraints, and resolve difficult operational issues.
+ Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing enterprise applications and manage the development of strategies and plans for improving or further leveraging these systems.
+ Ensure that the application roadmaps are created, maintained, and kept up to date.
Systems Integration:
+ Oversee data integration and collaborate with business analysts, technical developers, and campus team members to ensure data flows and systems support enterprise needs.
+ Work closely with business analysts, development, security, and campus teams on architecture, API, and integration governance.
Vendor Management:
+ Evaluate and select third-party software and technology vendors.
+ Negotiate contracts, service level agreements, and pricing.
+ Ensure vendor performance and compliance with agreements.
Continuous Improvement:
+ Identify areas for process optimization and automation using technology.
+ Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
User Support and Training:
+ Provide technical support and training to end-users on business applications.
+ Establish and maintain support processes and helpdesk services.
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, and 5 years progressively more complex technical and managerial experience, or a combination of education and experience.
+ Open to consider candidates without a degree requirement but must have 10-15 years of experience in a leadership field with supervision of a team.
+ Experience in IT leadership roles, with a focus on ERP applications.
+ Experience as an effective team leader, including experience managing, mentoring, and coaching employees.
+ Experience in application management/support experience required, including management of multiple concurrent projects.
+ Experience working with business users to establish priorities and manage expectations.
+ Knowledge of IT policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
+ Familiarity with cybersecurity controls, awareness of regulatory requirements.
+ Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, CMMC, etc., preferred.
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance, highly collaborative environment and demonstrate an ability to execute precisely and quickly.
+ Possess a high degree of professional confidence and credibility with the presence and communication skills to represent IT-related concepts effectively with executive-level management.
+ Strong project management and leadership skills.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
+ Knowledge of software development methodologies and technologies.
+ Understanding business process analysis and optimization.
+ Experience with budget management and vendor management.
Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is between $124,116 - $159,099. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications
