    EMERGENCY MEDICAL PROVIDER - MEDIC*

    Washington County is currently accepting applications forEmergency Medical Provider-Medic* on a per-diem basis. This work involves responsibility for administering initial first-aid treatment or emergency medical care to individuals who have suffered physical trauma at the scene and/or during transport in an ambulance to a hospital for more intensive treatment. The work is performed under general supervision of higher-level personnel with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent does related work as required.

     

    *This is a Civil Service Competitive position. Provisional appointee must take a future dated exam and be reachable on the resulting Eligible List.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and possession of one of the following certificates issued by the New York State Department of Health:

    + Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care (EMT-CC)

    + Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (AEMT-P)

     

    NOTE : EMT-CC and EMT-P candidates must also possess Mountain Lakes Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (REMAC) on-line status prior to employment.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

    -Possession of current certification in CPR at the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider level (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer level (American Red Cross) at time of appointment.

     

    -Maintenance of certification required throughout the course of employment and must adhere to all regional requirements to maintain on-line advanced life support status.

     

    -Possession of a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State, appropriate for the vehicle to be operated and maintained throughout the course of employment.

     

    HOURLY RATE : $27.23/hour (no benefits included)
