    CIVIL CLERK*

    Washington County is currently accepting applications for the title ofCivil Clerk*. This is a position in the Sheriff’s Office. The work involves the processing of civil papers and maintenance of detailed records of civil accounts. The position requires that the incumbent has an understanding of legal procedures and administrative policies and follows provisions of New York Civil Practice Law and Rules. The work involves routine clerical work involving performance of standard account-keeping practices in maintaining and checking financial accounts and records. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Sheriff and Undersheriff with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. Does related work as required.

     

    *This is a Civil Service Competitive position. Provisional appointee must take a future-dated exam and be reachable on the resulting Eligible List for permanent appointment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice or Paralegal; OR

    B. Graduation from high school or possession of a New York State equivalency diploma and two years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records within a Civil Office, Law Office or Legal entity.

     

    STARTING RATE OF PAY : $21.48/hour plus excellent benefits
