This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and has the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.

The purpose of this role is to provide workplace safety expertise and leadership to non-district offices of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to create a safe work environment. A major goal is to prevent and reduce costs related to personal injuries and damage to property and the environment.

The Safety Administrator will have a variety of responsibilities, including:

+ Developing and implementing a safety program for Central Office facilities to identify hazards, create abatement strategies, and reduce personal injuries and motor vehicle incidents.

+ Conducting annual and unscheduled safety inspections of Central Office locations to ensure compliance with MnDOT policies and regulations from OSHA and MPCA.

+ Overseeing the development and delivery of safety and health training for Central Office employees.

+ Acting as the Central Office Hazardous Waste Management Coordinator and participating in a hazardous waste coordinators group.

This job is a mixture of field and office work, with occasional travel required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field, and three (3) years of related professional-level work experience in the field of occupational health and safety,

OR Five (5) years of related professional-level work experience in the field of occupational health and safety.

Experience must include:

+ Experience with federal and state occupational safety and health rules and regulations, ergonomics, techniques of injury prevention, and hazard evaluation.

+ Experience developing and conducting safety training.

+ Experience identifying occupational safety and health problems, developing and implementing solutions.

+ A Valid Driver’s License is required.
